Lazarus song

So my sister Bessie Skeem and I wrote this song a while ago, but never recorded or shared it, except at a few family gatherings, and social events.

It is a song that special to us, so the idea of sharing it with the world was (and still is) pretty terrifying.

I started putting together a video for it about a year ago, and over the last few weeks we decided that if we didn't do something now, before Easter we might never share it. So we buckled down and got it done on our home recording studio.  Even in its imperfections, we are proud. It's a goal we set out to do, and we did it.

We had to be pretty creative with making the video. Every shot is one I took with my camera. Bessie was a good sport. Especially since we needed a shot of her coming out of the water. We went to Reservoir, about a week a go, and the water was beyond freezing. But she stayed in that water a lot longer than anybody should, and we got tons of shots of her coming out of the water---looking happy and joyful. Afterward, she said it made her feel so good we should go again.

This is a song we composed to convey our feelings of what the resurrection means to us---how Christ victory has overcome not only death, but our own tombs, and graves that bury us, and weigh us down. We wrote it at time when we were feeling buried by fear, anxiety, depression, and pain. We hope that some of our feelings and words expressed in this song with speak to you of the joy of Christ's victory, and resurrection in every detail of every day, of every moment, in every person, and the power it can have to transform us all-----and bring us back to life right now.

Bessie and are are singing the vocals. Bessie is also playing on the Ukulele. And my awesome mom, Jeanette Skeem is playing on the Slit drum

Thank you for listening, I hope the emotions conveyed in this song speak to you.

If you like this song, or know someone who might, or someone who is dealing with pain in their own life, it would make my day if you would share it on facebook or whatever social media platform you use.

Happy Easter!
